Now I won't be so shocked and lose my resolve and composure after reading some of the attitudes and comments you get from restaurant staff.
WendyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425479488992395300.post-48546360785434806042009-02-07T23:51:00.000-05:002009-02-07T23:51:00.000-05:00I don't think Chili's is going to be in business m...I don't think Chili's is going to be in business much longer. A few months ago ALL the Chili's in my area closed without ANY warning. The closing crew were told at the end of the night they were out of a job. The opening crew found out when they got there and the sign had already been taken down. There was a delivery guy that was never told and showed up for the delivery and nobody there to take the delivery.
If management can't properly lose stores close stores how can you expect employees to know about food allergies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425479488992395300.post-1305121767936380742009-02-07T16:04:00.000-05:002009-02-07T16:04:00.000-05:00I have never had luck at any chain restaurant. I have heard the gravy is incredible.....not to mention the steak is tasty to. But I wouldn't know. I haven't tried it. During the time you were visiting that area, those independent restaurants would have been happy for your business and would have worked extra hard to make sure your meal was GF.~Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12826647754087054603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425479488992395300.post-79435794747363707792009-02-07T16:00:00.000-05:002009-02-07T16:00:00.000-05:00Fabulous Restaurant! I have eaten there many times myself, but not since I have gone GF, I will have to revisit here next time I am in South Padre Island

~Melissa~Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12826647754087054603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425479488992395300.post-17938196991319085432009-01-27T11:07:00.000-05:002009-01-27T11:07:00.000-05:00I tried to eat at Chili's once, it was a HORRIBLE ...I tried to eat at Chili's once, it was a HORRIBLE experience. I have had to stop eating at Chili...Yes, yes, yes. I have had to stop eating at Chili's for this exact reason, they simply don't get it. I have been brought a steak and potato meal very specifically asked to be gluten free with a large piece of Texas toast on the plate, crumbs everywhere...and the soup that was on the gf menu was most absolutely not and made me very sick...I was given a $20 gift cert for my pain...ugh! Village Inn has been great, as was the Texas Steak house, I forgot to tell them no croutons, and he figured it out, and brought my husbands with and mine without. I was very impressed! Thanks for this very helpful!mrlucashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05333932614403712640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425479488992395300.post-69209801149680281732009-01-24T16:37:00.000-05:002009-01-24T16:37:00.000-05:001-24-09: I recently visited Jefferson, TX...not a...1-24-09: I recently visited Jefferson, TX...not a "gluten free" community, but folks were gracious and willing to try to be helpful. I ate in 4 different establishments: The McKay House B & B where they did a gluten free breakfast omelette for me. (If you aren't GF, the homemade cookies on the sidebar looked yummy!) Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich and Pie Bar...not a promising title for GF foods, but the staff was very accomodating. They had a lovely grilled chicken salad w/fresh spinach, strawberries, and walnuts, and a homemade sweet vinaigrette that was quite filling. Also, The Hamburger Store did a nice grilled chicken entree with honey mustard...the waitress and owner bent over backwards to make sure that I didn't get anything I shouldn't have. At Riverport Bar-B-Que, I had brisket, baked beans, and potato salad without any problems...no MSG, fillers, or modified food starch. The Bar-B-Que sauce is a sweet spicy one that I enjoyed. I generally prepare food beforehand when I travel, and it was a good thing in this case, since I didn't find much in the way of "health food" in the local groceries. But you couldn't beat the helpful attitude of the locals.Tirzeh1543https://www.blogger.com/profile/17929315626959261480noreply@blogger.com
